HEADLINES: THREE HOUR DUTY WEEK CHAMPIONED BY IRISHKAISER
ASPERMONT, WESTERLANDS - The Right Honourable Irishkaiser championed the idea of a three hour maximum to be asked for duties for every Company Member in a bid to prevent big gubmint abuse in the near future of how much effort can the Company ask from its members. Critics of the plan say that it would formally recognize coercion and would remove the aspect of volunteerism altogether.
The Right Honourable corrected his colleagues saying that it asks for a maximum not a minimum, implying that there is no requirement to complete but rather when to stop. Irishkaiser also stated that its part of his plan to help and measure time, which would help with planning in the future because a metric is given as to how much can be given. 8 hours work. 8 hours rest. 8 hours recreation.
Karl McMarx did not propose this.

EDITORIAL - Why Government is Hard. The real La Li Lu Le Lo.
Irishkaiser - The Deep State is no conspiracy; there are forces at work who rule us that are not influenced by popular will or even… The will of their leaders. There ARE decision making bodies that are independent of the government, and most of the time, influences the governments they serve rather than the other way around. It is why in elections, no matter how much “change” or “reform” any candidate promises, even with the backing of constituents, presidents will always fall short from perfection.
Not even authoritarian governments are safe from them as overtime they become too valuable and dependent on this cabinet of politicos that truly decide where the country is going.
Who are these shadowy overlords that dictate the day to day decisions of your nation and sometimes… The fate of the world? You’d be surprised to learn they are some of the most boring people on the face of the earth. They are unheard of most of the time and work behind the spotlight. Some of you may know them personally. They could be family, they could be friends. You could be one of them right now.
They’re the Civil Service.
Sometimes known as bureaucrats, the Civil Service has both responsibility and power which range from education, defense, social services and all manner of things the state employs to achieve its interests. These people oftentimes around the world work against their governments and most people barely notice it. How the hell did this happen? They are Civil Servants, right? They’re supposed to serve the state?
Well, yes… That was the idea. But to get around this one must remember why there are Civil Servants in the first place. Sometimes results deviate from the intentional design.
When states began to grow bigger and more complex, oftentimes, beyond the capacity of a single ruler, the expanding interests of governments needed help in carrying out government policy. To do this, it needed experts. Technocrats.
They were to be apolitical. As in, it didn’t matter who was in charge, they were supposed to carry out government policy because it was their job. It didn’t matter if they believed in Democracy, Fascism, Communism or whatever. People’s opinions changes and originally they were supposed to provide the skill to institute complex changes. In the words of Sir Humphrey Appleby from Yes Minister:
“Bernard, I have served eleven governments in the past thirty years. If I had believed in all their policies, I would have been passionately committed to keeping out of the Common Market, and passionately committed to going into it. I would have been utterly convinced of the rightness of nationalising steel. And of denationalising it and renationalising it. On capital punishment, I’d have been a fervent retentionist and an ardent abolitionist. I would’ve been a Keynesian and a Friedmanite, a grammar school preserver and destroyer, a nationalisation freak and a privatisation maniac; but above all, I would have been a stark, staring, raving schizophrenic!”
Here therein lies the root of the problem: they are rarely if ever replaced because it’s an unelected and unappointed position. Would you keep replacing the best hired man in the first place? In democracies, it is enshrined into law to not remove them based on political charges. In authoritarian governments, they have either formed cliques for protection or are far too valuable to be removed by the central authorities.
Eventually, these Civil Servants who were supposed to be apolitical, become their own microcosm political group fighting over budgets and deliberately sabotaging current government policy because it would be a “hassle” to change. They also are usually the source of advice for governments because THEY’RE THE “EXPERTS” IN THE FIRST PLACE.
All recommendations on how to carry out government policy is recommended and carried out by the Civil Service. Huh… Nothing can go wrong with that, right?
Yep. The civil service is literally a case argument of why meritocracy is not necessarily a good form of government.
That is the root of the problem, but surely you can dig them out easily, yes? Given enough political will you can remove them- Nope. There are thousands of them at any time in many a country today.
It would leave a state too vulnerable at that moment to lack for experts.
Consider the past three US presidents, their campaign promises and their actions.
Bush : Campaigned as a non-interventionist. Invaded Iraq. Invaded Afghanistan.
Obama : Campaigned to end Bush’s surveillance state(NSA). Endorsed it when he took office.
Trump : Campaigned to Drain the Swamp. The Swamp gazed back.
The Civil Service keeps the status quo and the best we can hope for is actually the stability they provide. The status quo prevents major disruptions. We all want change, but a lot of the times we forget the costs for those major changes. The fear. The blood. Unless a leader is willing to have a bloody conflict within his own borders, the Civil Service will remain and will even fight to remain.
China’s history of eventual corruption within its government and Whitehall dragging Britain into unnecessary wars speak volumes that the Deep State will always emerge from any nation that has gotten big enough.

1 Rare Item
A trade run where the 93rd said they would participate so the Trade Run Leader gather low on purpose to accommodate what was expected to be their input but the Virtues regiment had cancelled at the last minute.
It was well for the trade run found absolutely deserted towns in its traditional areas of sale, despite the fact that there were about three or so stacks being constant in one server and waited for an Imperial Citizen to announce he had a rare item with him and was willing to trade for the exact amount of stuff we were about to sell… But the catch was it was a rescue mission as he too was stuck. Eventually an admin got him out and now it was to link up with him…
When arrived, lo and behold… INSTEAD OF TAKING THE STUFF, THIS NIGGA DECIDES TO DONATE IT. What a shoah, oi vey. It is listed as legally a trade because he promised in the first place, and secondly, the guys didn’t want to go back fucking South again after discovering a whole lode of nothing.

New Resource demands, especially ones for iron armor pieces forces Kaiser Arsenal to move its production centers. Ready made Splash IIs are not considered as valuable anymore due to the fact that gunpowder floods the market and almost any boy whore has gunpowder. In the meantime, Kaiser Arsenal factories will either donate or dump their Splash IIs in order to accommodate current economic demands this week.

DOMESTIC - FEEDING THE NEW INDUSTRY REQUIRES OUTSIDER SOURCES, HILL GUARDS SAYS
Hillguards' analysis of its burgeoning tech industry in the Company states that in order to feed it, aside from market, qualified personnel are also required. Recruiting methods were drawn up with an emphasis on discovering what makes the UTC environment so attractive for innovative players.
The established members of the tech industry however stated that it would be a “waste” of time, as with their common interests and skills, they too would have discovered these members existing in MineZ, to which they state they have not. One captain of industry advised that in order to rapidly expand the economy, outside expertise is needed from beyond Shotbow, but the only viable strategy is to utilize the clan bank to “hire” people from beyond in a move similar to how real countries do it: importing foreign expertise.
The Clan Bank refuses to pay as it does not consider the situation dire enough to do so or a major need to sacrifice. They made the equivalence that spending for this would be akin to spending in the end product of MineZ.
