HEADLINES: INCREASED OUTPUT OPPOSED BY COMPANY MEMBERS FOR TRADE RUNS
ASPERMONT, WESTERLANDS - After an increase of customers after last trade runs, one individual proposed to increase resource production to meet the new demand but was opposed by trade run members who stated that the current environment may be “affected” in the future as always and it would leave the members theoretically more vulnerable to a combat situation as there would be more merchandise inventory than weapons and splashes.
Though no bandits have been spotted save for leather premium schmucks, chain and iron bullies have been rarely spotted.
The current demand, it is said, has already been met and that’s it’s just that we were selling the wrong mix of items down South as we run out of stuff to sell fast with a few things not wanted by everyone else.

EDITORIAL - Criticizing the Middle Kingdom
Irishkaiser - No country is perfect and though I’ve praised the Chinese approach before, I’ve always known they had shortcomings and have even once said that their geopolitical approach is archaic. We have admitted and expressed the positive now let us show and define the negative that shrouds the global power player and may even be its downfall before they even become the best.
Naive and Inexperienced Geopolitical Approach - Yes, I’ve said they are naive and or inexperienced when it comes to greater geopolitical matters, but what do I mean exactly? Well, the Communist Party of China is actually relatively new. Though the nation has been there for thousands of years, the current government only took power in the 1950s, making the country about 70 years old. Yes, relatively young countries can become good at it but they are usually small nations who could easily account for everything that could affect them, not big ones like China whose borders rival the United States mainland.
In a way, this is a blessing as in the world power politics, they treat “lesser” nations as more equal partners than the smoke and mirrors of Western “aid”, but at the same time Chinese decisions are still based on obsolete ideas. They have little experience and yet they jump on the big boy pants just like that. Contrasting it with the gradual growth and experience of the United States as a world power history whose Manifest Destiny and Monroe Doctrine provided them with training grounds as to how to approach the bigger world order by first dealing with a smaller ones. The Belt and Road I’ve praised before? One of my main criticisms? Was their insistence of railway transport without much technological and cultural consideration with member countries. They think that what works in China, works for the rest of the world. Some countries are just flat out retarded when it comes to certain things and though rail is one of the best China is good at, everyone else isn’t up to par and China expects them to be up to par… Which in turn makes the overland Eurasian part of the B&R one of the most anxious parts of the project.
State Fear and Paranoia - I’m not denying the potential international intrigue such as the CIA or whatever, but irrational fear and paranoia can get the best of China at times and makes them more susceptible to stupid decisions or even the wrong ones. The more daggers they perceive, the more authoritarian they become, even at parts where they shouldn’t be authoritarian in the first place.
This State Fear and Paranoia is not unfounded but at the same time, it could become a problematic complex that plays into every decision by the government. Things that were once thought to be neutral or even harmless is now perceived as a potential vector of attack against the Chinese state and the state clamps down on it. Even without moral considerations, the whole thing is wrong on an economic approach. To clamp down on it, you need to put effort. Effort requires money. You spend unnecessarily on things that may solve itself or WAS NO PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. State Repression and Security can blow up to be one of the biggest expenditures in a government budget. If you’re wrong, State Repression could generate more resentment, which in turn generates more measures to repress, and it goes on and on and on until the state fights a huge rebellion in their borders and it was all pointless anyway because not only did you spend so much on trying to stop a rebellion, but now there’s an actual rebellion.
Refusal to Admit there is No One China - I’m not talking about Taiwan’s claim as the Republic of China. I’m talking about the vast, diverse beauty that is the Chinese nation. If you look at the map of China, you will see a huge country whose borders stretch from arid deserts, tall mountains, fertile valleys, plains and coastal waters. The peoples that live in each start to develop differently and locally deal with their own issues differently. So how does the Chinese government approach their vast, diverse nation from Cold Harbin to Warm Hainan?
One time zone for everybody and everything everywhere. Also, everyone takes lunch at the same time. Beijing time.
That’s fucking stupid.
I’ve mentioned before the history of China being so divided into warring states and lords and is always a cause of great pain and fear for the nation, but their approach that everyone must be the same, all kept pace by the Beijing Government. That’s right. You can’t step out of line from the government. Fuck you.
Even if everything the government did was “good”, that means you can’t do better and everyone else is slow because of it. You’re a bit slow? Too bad. Better move fast or you’ll get a visit from State Minister of Velocity Corrections.
