It's ok to change your mind #
It's ok to change your mind about things. Many people are incredibly fixed and stubborn about their views, including myself at times. I think space, time and being able to save face can help a lot of people, but the kind of world we live in, it has grown cold and merciless and offers few opportunities for people to save face.
Regardless, I myself have changed my opinions about many things. Sometimes when faced with indisputable evidence, I'll change my stance on the spot. Some people view this as wishy washy, a lukewarm position, hypocritical and dishonest. I think the real hypocrisy lies in denying truth. As a saying goes "When a man lies, he murders a bit of the world". This is more on objective things... Or even relatively objective.
Subjective things too, it's ok to change your mind too. I've gone back and looked at some things I enjoyed as a teenager and they did not age well and I no longer enjoy them. Other things I gain a new and greater... Or at least different appreciation for them. Some things, I don't have an answer as to why my tastes change, most evident in food.
I think it's hard to accept that your own tastes change over time sometimes. It's a sign that you are not like yourself yesterday or yesteryear. And the identity and ego has nicely snuggled into the nest of those tastes and beliefs of yesteryear.
Even in my own example, I have left all my past blog posts up. There have been a handful I have considered removing, but have opted against it. Why? Well I think the record of where I've been, and what I've thought is useful. And secondly because it highlights a quality that I hold in high regard:
That it's ok to change your mind.
